This position is for a Mechanical Engineer in the Design group of the Collimated Display Center. Responsible for the mechanical packaging design of Display Products, which include all mechanical design aspects of planning, design, integration, verification and factory transition of the product.
Efforts include bid and proposal efforts, packaging conceptualizations, vibration/thermal analysis, preliminary/detailed design, prototype build & checkout, integration, qualification testing, factory transition and collateral support. Skills in the area of design for low cost, manufacturability and small volume packaging are highly desired. Decisions may have a major impact on cost, schedule, and technical performance.
The Mechanical Engineer must be self directed and act as a mentor for the engineering department. Must have the ability to work in a team environment where the individual will interact with various team design engineers such as other mechanical engineers, electrical engineers and system engineers.
The Mechanical Engineer is expected to oversee contributions made by several support functions such as CAD support, analysis support, environmental effects engineering, and fabrication shops and operations personnel. Have the ability to estimate, track and report your project costs to the program. Will be responsible for decisions that have significant impact on cost, schedule, and technical performance. Demonstrate an excellence in turning requirements into solution.
Familiarity of Display Product designs highly desired. Knowledge of electromechanical systems and related control systems. Working knowledge of mechanical CAD, structural analysis, thermal analysis, and FEA analysis is highly desired. Proficiency in SolidWorks is required. Must possess good research skills and written communication/documentation skills. Serve as a role model to your subordinates and promote open discussion of issues. Lead others in approaching difficult projects with optimism and sense of urgency. Time management is essential.

Bachelor's Degree in applicable engineering or science field plus two years of experience, or, in the absence of a Bachelor's Degree, 3 to 5 years of related engineering experience. US Citizenship or Permanent Resident (Green Card) is required.
