Q4 is an independent market-leading supplier of innovative and unique visual display systems to the military and commercial flight simulation and training industry. With its headquarters located in Orlando, Florida, Q4 specializes in the manufacture, service and support of visual display systems to the simulation and training industry. 

Q4 is seeking an experienced Department Lead to support the Product Forming Department in all aspects of production, maintenance, troubleshooting and shipping of projection screens.  The ideal candidate will have prior experience with molding plastics, supervising employees and is adaptable with good hand skills and tool knowledge.  Specific duties include:

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise production team, including scheduling production to meet customer need dates, establishing priorities, monitoring progress, and providing timely status reports;
  • Organize and maintain the shop to support production;
  • Work safely, maintain a safe working environment, and minimize waste;
  • Hands-on supervision of the molding and coating processes of acrylic screens;
  • Train/manage junior technicians in the molding and coating processes for acrylic screens;
  • Perform and train/manage junior technicians inspecting, in calculating the gain on projection screens, and utilizing equipment properly in the production process;
  • Package crates for shipment using the specified materials and procedures;
  • Assist in the offload/load of deliveries or shipments as needed;
  • Submit part request forms when materials/tools are needed;
  • Perform miscellaneous projects as required.
  • Review and approve timesheets of junior technicians.
  • Manage and perform routine maintenance of assigned equipment;
  • Perform to and train junior technicians in the use of tooling and schematics;
  • Ensure appropriate testing, documentation, and certification has been completed prior to product delivery;

REQUIREMENTS

  • Prior experience with heating / molding plastics, including acrylics and ABS.
  • Prior experience in a supervisory / lead role.
  • Prior experience with Q4 projection screens desired.
  • Understanding of mechanical interface designs and drawings. Knowledge of basic hand tools including rivnuts, countersink, associated tools and drill press.  Ability to convert from standard to metric using a calculator or chart. 
  • Usage of light meters thickness gauges and other standard test equipment.
  • Knowledge of acrylic materials and usage.
  • Minimum of 2 year of experience with fabricating, positioning, aligning and fitting parts of structural composite/metal products. Experience driving a forklift.
  • Associates Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school or 6 mo - 1 yr related exp. or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Problem solving, planning/organizing, supervisory skills, strong oral/written communication, accuracy and thoroughness and adaptability.
