Due to continued company growth Q4 Services requires an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic growing organization. Q4 is an independent market-leading supplier of innovative and unique visual display solutions to the military and commercial flight simulation and training industry. With its headquarters located in Orlando, Florida, Q4 specializes in the manufacture and support of high performance visual systems to the simulation and training industry.

Q4 is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to develop technical drawings for use in fabrication of Q4 Services' products which include Collimated Visual Display Systems, Aft Cabin Structures, Composite Molds, weld and drill jigs.  The ideal candidate will be a multi-tasker with that is able to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain project goals and schedules. 

RESPONSIBILITIES             

  • Participate in design, development and verification activities.
  • Manage preliminary/initial design and integration.
  • Assist in bids / proposals.
  • Analyze the feasibility of the design which includes operation and performance of equipment, components and systems.
  • Maintain product schedules and plan engineering product lifecycle accordingly.
  • Facilitate factory transition and collateral support;
  • Develop, coordinate, and implement manufacturing methods and processes.
  • Develop the 3D parametric design of products using drafting tools or computer-assisted design (CAD) such as SolidWorks for Q4 Services product needs; 
  • Preparing technical drawings showing part, assembly and installation detail of a wide variety of mechanical devices, indicating dimensions, fabrication methods, and other requirements;
  • Oversee project all throughout process to close, ensuring that each detail is complete and accurate, including production quality support;
  • Support on-site installations, including installation drawings as well as troubleshooting of issues that might arise;
  • Create Bills of Material (BOMs) for individual programs/projects;
  • Design of composite material molds and lamination schedules ;
  • Source hardware and materials for designs.

 REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent engineering program (BSET).
  • 3-5 years of experience in mechanical design of parts, assemblies and drawings. 
  • Strong experience with Solidworks 3D CAD. 
  • Experience creating mechanical designs that meet project and product goals.
  • Experience working with manufacturing on achieving project goals. 
  • Experience sourcing hardware and materials for designs. 
  • Experience with initial design/development of new products from concept through manufacturing.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Some knowledge of flight simulation, visual display systems and collimation helpful. 
  • Well-developed software skills.
  • Apply an extensive knowledge of advanced theories, concepts, and principles in the broad field of mechanical engineering and related technologies.  
  • Read/interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics and computer generated reports. 
  • Understand weldments, weld callouts and sheet metal design.
